Preschool

Our preschool classes are taught by a NYS Certified Early Education teacher. The preschool teachers are responsible for creating weekly lesson plans that will educate the students in social/emotional, physical and cognitive development.

Pre-K

Our Pre-K classes are taught by a NYS Certified Early Education teacher. The Pre-K teachers prepare weekly lesson plans with the guidance of the NYS Common Core Standards for Pre-kindergarten.

Our Programs - Ages 6 weeks to 12 years old

Infant room 1: 6 weeks to 6 months

Infant room 2: 6 months to 12 months

Waddlers: 12 months to 24 months

Toddlers: 18 months to 36 months

Preschool: ages 3 and 4

Pre-K: ages 4 and 5

Before and After School: ages 5 to 12

Summer Camp: ages 5 to 12

Each classroom is taught by a teacher who holds their degree in Early Childhood Education. All classroom teachers create weekly themed lesson plans, which include music, art, sensory, fine and gross motor, and language development activities. We use the "Creative Curriculum"

We will provide an experience which promotes each child's social/emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Our goal is to support children's desire to be life-long learners.

Philosophy

At Island Kids Child Care Center we believe that learning occurs naturally when children are provided with developmentally appropriate activities. We believe that children should be provided with many opportunities throughout each day to gain knowledge that enables them to be successful.

Every class offers a wide variety of hands on activities and learning.  Island Kids has multiple program incentives for all age groups. Our program incentives are included in the tuition and offer the children many ways to keep moving and stay fit!!

With Dance, Yoga, and Music, our Island Kids have something special every day of the week!  In our on-site library, the children learn about how to use the library, how to borrow books, and learn the responsibility of bringing books home and back to school.

Art is incorporated into teaching for all age groups. Outdoor time takes place daily on our two large fenced play spaces or in our

fenced green space that is dedicated to sports, games, and water play!

On top of all of our program incentives, our Island Kids have scheduled physical education time in our gymnasium. Each class has a 30 block to use the gymnasium each day!
